🔥 Trending now in : Alexandra Eala has just entered a new tournament that starts tomorrow after being knocked out of the US Open
Alexandra Eala made history at the US Open, despite bowing out in just the second round.
After all, she became the first Filipino to ever win a main draw match at a Grand Slam, having become the first to even appear in one at Roland Garros.
A trailblazer with an exceedingly bright future, her talent was perfectly exhibited in New York when she dumped out the 14th seed, Clara Tauson, in the very first round.
It was a hugely impressive performance, perfectly finished off as the 20-year-old won a third-set tiebreak in dramatic fashion.
Unfortunately, Cristina Bucsa had too much for her, but it was still a tournament to remember for Eala.
However, she has wasted no time in maintaining her busy schedule after her early exit.
Alexandra Eala updates schedule after US Open exit
After all, she is already due to play in another tournament that starts next week.
Her first appearance at Abierto Zapopan, the Mexican event is just a 125-level competition, and thus does not mark a desperate scramble for points.
Instead, Eala is clearly after some additional matchplay heading into the final hard-court spell of the season.
Due to be the second seed, only bettered by Kamilla Rakhimova, it gives the Filipino a golden chance to pick up a title after coming so close in Eastbourne.
She faces Dutch tennis player Arianne Hartono in the first round, who is currently ranked 170th in the world.
Alexandra Eala reacts to losing at the US Open
Upon exiting the US Open at Busca’s hands, she spoke within the grounds at Flushing Meadows about her tournament.
First speaking about the atmosphere and the crowd, Eala began by noting: “I feel so loved and so blessed, I felt all the positivity and the energy that they gave me. It was such a pleasure to play in front of them; they made me feel like I was home.”
Then, looking back on the two matches she played, the youngster continued: “I mean, I think the takeaway is just never give up. That’s always the mindset in every match, and that’s why I was able to make such a comeback. It doesn’t always work, but you always need to have that mentality.

“Second match, I think she was very smart, she played very smart and used her weapons well. It’s just a matter of growing my weapons and having more things to pull out and more tactics.”
Eala reacted to making history at the US Open before her tournament had even begun, unsurprisingly beaming with pride. Having now claimed her maiden major win, that feeling will only have increased.
