Seven of Saturday’s Scottish Professional Football League matches have been postponed because of freezing weather across Scotland.

Cove Rangers v Montrose in League 1 and Elgin City v East Kilbride in League 2 were called off on Friday because of snow in the north-east.

The Championship meetings between Ayr United and Queen’s Park and Dunfermline Athletic and Ross County were postponed because of frozen pitches on Saturday morning, along with Hamilton Academical versus East Fife and Inverness CT v Peterhead in League 1 and Stirling Albion against Annan Athletic in League 2.

There was already a lack of certainty over Hamilton’s game, with players considering not playing after they were not paid on time.

Caretaker manager Darian MacKinnon assured fans he would be able to field a team if the match went ahead at Broadwood Stadium but admitted the club is in a “critical” condition.

However, the Spartans versus Dumbarton in League 2 survived a Saturday pitch inspection.
