Israel has claimed that Iran has long-range missiles capable of a range of 4,000km.

This, it claims, means Tehran has weapons that “can reach London, Paris or Berlin”.

The warning comes after Tehran launched two ballistic missiles at the US-UK joint military base, Diego Garcia, Sky News understands.

While the missiles did not hit, they are thought to have travelled around 4,000km – further than previously thought capable for Tehran.

Israel’s Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said: “These missiles are not intended to strike Israel.

“Their range extends to the capitals of Europe – Berlin, Paris, and Rome are all within direct threat range.”
